I’ve written extensively on beauty, travel/food, technology, animals, and feminist/gay and lesbian issues. That being said, I often do my best work against the grain, when I have an assignment on a subject I know (and maybe care) zero about. I also do personal essays, reviews, and general reporting, including hard news, investigative work and profiles – I’ve interviewed everyone from Whoopi Goldberg to Margaret Atwood to Bill Gates.

DEADLINE WRITING

Thanks to spending my twenties in news rooms, I can turn a story around very, very fast. I never need a deadline extension and I’m good at writing to exact word count.

OLD SCHOOL JOURNALISM

I'm used to pulling myriad facts together, absorbing new information, and synthesizing what I've learned. I pride myself on tackling all sides of an issue. If you already know how you want the story slanted when you assign it, I'm probably not your girl.

LANGUAGES

My French is decent enough that I’ve done interviews in it, and I'm working on getting to that level in Italian. I can also get by in the basics in Spanish.
